"Christine Zachai is an excellent listener who understands us as individuals and philanthropists. She motivates us to think differently about issues, without applying presumptions." - Family Foundation Client

Renewal, Focus, and Outcomes

Forward Philanthropy works with foundations at all levels of development. From new foundations just defining their missions, to established foundations seeking renewal, we support foundations internally to examine their values, and then externally to focus their giving and communicate their goals. We can guide foundations through developing plans, as well as staff the implementation of a plan.

Many family foundations keep a far-flung family in touch with one another. But many also struggle to honor a founder’s intent, or to bring cohesion to the diverse interests of the trustees. We can support family foundations in developing a philanthropic plan that is focused, effective, and satisfying.

When it comes time for the mantle of leadership to transfer between generations, Forward Philanthropy can support a family in ushering in changes that both honor tradition and apply a founder’s original desires to today’s community needs.

Forward Philanthropy can offer place-based supports for out-of-state foundations, law firms, family offices, or wealth management firms conducting grantmaking in Vermont. We partner with out-of-state philanthropic managers, support philanthropic plans, and do on-the-ground due diligence.
